Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Inspect equipment and trailers before deployment and after return to ensure they are complete, clean, safe, functional, and ready for service.

• Maintain shop and yard areas, organize equipment storage, and identify gear ready for service.
• Assist with loading, unloading, staging, and demobilization of equipment as required.
• Participate in safety activities and follow PPE requirements.
• Complete and maintain equipment inspection, compressor, cylinder-filling, maintenance, and inventory records.

Position Description

• Inspect equipment and trailers before deployment and upon return to ensure they are complete, clean, safe, functional, and ready for service.
• Verify that trailers contain all required equipment, tools, hoses, fittings, components, supplies, and documentation in accordance with established inventory and readiness requirements.
• Inspect air trailers and breathing-air systems to ensure cylinders are appropriately filled, compressors and associated equipment are fully operational, and the unit is ready for immediate field deployment.
• Safely operate high-pressure breathing-air compressors and cylinder-filling equipment and fill high-pressure bottles/cylinders, typically ranging from approximately 2,500 psi to 4,500 psi, in accordance with training, company procedures, manufacturer requirements, and applicable regulations.
• Inspect cylinders, valves, fill whips, hoses, fittings, regulators, and connections for cracks, leaks, damage, wear, expired inspection/test dates, or other deficiencies before use or filling.
• Inspect trailers and readily accessible running gear, including tires, wheels, lights, hitches, safety chains, breakaway systems, and electrical connections. Verify wheel fasteners are torqued to the required specification as part of trailer readiness checks.
• Confirm required third-party repairs or inspections have been completed before equipment is returned to ready-for-service status.
• Follow preventative maintenance schedules and equipment requirements established by Bravo Target Safety and equipment manufacturers.
• Complete and maintain required equipment inspection, compressor, cylinder-filling, maintenance, inventory, and service records.
• Organize the shop, yard, and equipment storage areas and clearly identify equipment that is ready for service versus equipment that is out of service or awaiting repair.
• Maintain assigned work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition and support general shop and yard housekeeping.
• Assist with loading, unloading, staging, mobilization, and demobilization of equipment as required.
• Participate in facility audits, toolbox meetings, ERP drills, and other safety activities, and follow all safe work practices and PPE requirements.
• Additional duties as required.

Position Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and hands‑on ability to inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and perform minor servicing or repairs on equipment. A trade certification or mechanic licence is not required.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to recognize damaged, worn, leaking, unsafe, or missing equipment and components.
• Ability and willingness to complete required training and demonstrate competency in the safe operation of high‑pressure breathing‑air compressors and cylinder‑filling equipment.
• Ability to consistently lift 50 pounds or more and perform physical work in a shop and yard environment.
• Experience using common hand and power tools.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with an acceptable driver’s abstract.
• Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Preferred Qualifications / Assets:

• Knowledge of TDG requirements applicable to compressed gases and compressed‑air cylinders, including relevant Class 2 requirements.
• Experience with high‑pressure compressed‑air or breathing‑air systems.
• Jordair compressor operation and basic maintenance knowledge.
• Experience with high‑pressure hoses, valves, regulators, fittings, and compressed‑air equipment.
• Experience inspecting and maintaining trailers and associated equipment.
• Experience hauling trailers and equipment.
• Skid steer certification or operating experience.
