Job description

Join to apply for the Shop Machinist and Valve Technician role at Wajax.

The Opportunity

Responsible for providing quality workmanship, consistent service, and technical support to customers. Performs tasks related to testing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and reconditioning valves.

The Role

  • Inspect and diagnose components and equipment for servicing needs.
  • Communicate with equipment owners for authorization of servicing and repairs.
  • Clean valves for inspection, inspect internal parts, measure and document critical dimensions.
  • Update and maintain documentation for the valves.
  • Assemble and test valves to ensure compliance with specifications and codes.
  • Perform painting and tagging as required.
  • Service and repair equipment in the shop and in the field.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers.
  • Communicate servicing needs with supervisors/managers.
  • Complete work orders and service paperwork.
  • Participate in manufacturer and in-house training, including safety training.
  • Adhere to health and safety practices and participate in hazard assessments.
  • Perform housekeeping duties and maintain a professional image.
  • Support shipping and receiving processes.
  • Familiar with manual and CNC machining activities, precise measurement, reverse engineering, and material knowledge.
  • Manufacture components as needed and understand repair machining scopes.

The Candidate

  • Trade certification, Journeyman, Red Seal certification required.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong communication skills, customer service orientation, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving skills.
