Job Purpose

The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating warehouse and shipping operations to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with company policies. This role includes managing warehouse forklift drivers, ensuring proper inventory handling and storage, coordinating dock and trailer movements, and maintaining optimal production staging and material transfer processes.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees warehouse forklift drivers.
  • Perform quality control verification checks to ensure proper movement (FEFO).
  • Ensure correct labelling and wrapping of products, along with correctness of inventory locations and proper stacking methods for optimized inventory integrity.
  • Manage dock traffic, trailer movements, and coordinate with shunt drivers throughout the day.
  • Ensure warehouse storage locations are being followed as outlined.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient production staging to support seamless shipping operations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate transfer of materials to designated locations to support production.
  • Create transfer orders and generate BOLs for transfer shipment going out of the facility.
  • Communicate and coordinate with departments/supervisors to ensure flow and throughput is optimized.
  • Assist in controlling inventory and allocating space for stock by applying strong organization and time management skills.
  • Recommend changes in procedures to improve the operating efficiency of the department and lead improvement projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • Assign warehouse team members to meet the demands of the facility, while working alongside them providing guidance as required.
  • Provide backup coverage for absences and vacations within the warehouse team and perform various administrative duties as assigned.
  • Complete forklift inspections, maintain all inspection records, and ensure that deficiencies are documented, communicated, and corrected with urgency as required.
  • Onboard and train forklift drivers and facilitate other training sessions as needed.
  • Responsible for daily management and support for the team to achieve operational success.
  • Monitor time and attendance and ensure compliance with company procedures.
  • Approve vacation requests.
  • Carry out incident, accident and non-conformity investigations and associated reporting and action closure.
  • Issue disciplinary action when needed.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
  • Follow Health and Safety rules and regulations.
  • Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid forklift license.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, with the ability to create and manage documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams effectively and handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-volume environment.
  • Great attention to detail with accuracy.
  • Strong understanding of freight and documentation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
