Job summary

Canfor is seeking a Shipping Supervisor to coordinate the timely and accurate shipment of truck orders and to supervise shipping-related production staff and equipment at our facility. You will report to management and ensure safety, environment, and policy compliance while meeting daily/weekly shipping targets and inventory goals.

This role requires strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills, with experience in a unionized setting and a proactive approach to process improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 education with preference given to candidates with relevant post-secondary education
• Supervisory experience in the sawmill industry
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with the ability to learn new programs
• Strong written and oral communications
• Ability to thrive as a management team member in a unionized work environment
• Strong analytical and problem solving abilities with the flexibility to effectively respond to continually changing internal and external business conditions
• TDG and WHMIS training would be an asset
• Demonstrated safe work behaviour
• Analytical thinker
• Easily adapt to new situations
• Can build cooperative and trusting working relationships
• Work with limited supervision
• Highly organized, self-motivated
• Basic knowledge of mobile equipment would be an asset

Responsibilities

• Assist with forecasting planer production in accordance with Supply Chain directives
• Coordinate kiln-loading and planer-in requirements with sawmill production, in order to attain forecasted planer-out production
• Supervision and coordination of all related production employees and equipment related to shipping and kilns
• Determine & meet daily/weekly shipping requirements while achieving target inventories
• Ensure that established safety, quality, cost, delivery, and employee engagement KPI's are met or exceeded on a consistent basis
• Work with all personnel to ensure compliance in safety, environment, company policies, and OHS regulations
• Foster a culture of knowledge sharing with other personnel
