Job summary

Sherwood Steel is seeking a Shipping Assistant to support material movement, coordinate shipments, and maintain strong customer relations. You will prepare bills of lading, assemble outbound packages, notify carriers, and record shipment data for reporting and accounting.

The role also involves processing orders and handling inbound calls. Ideal candidates will have 1–2 years in shipping, strong English and computer skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years’ experience in Shipping roles preferred.
• Proficient English language skills, strong computer skills and customer service skills.
• Administration or Office Education Certificate preferred.
• Experience in sales or customer service.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word in particular) and Google Suite.

Responsibilities

• Create bills of lading.
• Print and compile outbound shipping packages including bills of lading, rebar cut lists, drawings, mill test certificates and invoice.
• Notify carriers, coordinate outbound freight and record shipment data for reporting and accounting purposes.
• Maintain customer relationships.
• Process customer orders and payments.
• Inbound call management and phone coverage.
• Other duties as required.
