Job description

Who We Are

We’re a team that puts customers first, invests in our people, and takes pride in being part of the local community. If you’re organized, calm under pressure, and enjoy keeping a busy operation running smoothly – this is a great opportunity to lead a team and make a direct impact on customer satisfaction.

What’s in it for You
  • Real opportunities to grow and advance within the company
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities
  • Extended health benefits package
  • RRSP matching program
  • Employee discount on retail products after the first three months
  • Employee and Family Assistance Program to support your well-being and that of your family
  • A team culture built on three core values: Customers First, Inspired People, and Community Connection
About the Role

As Shipping Coordinator, you’ll lead the Shipping activities of our yard and warehouse – prioritizing deliveries, scheduling order builds, and making sure every order leaves accurate, complete, and on time. You’re responsible for the accuracy and efficiency of the entire shipping operation, from the moment an order request comes in to the moment it’s loaded and on the truck.

This role blends hands‑on work with logistics problem‑solving – you’ll assign and delegate work to load builders, troubleshoot product substitutions and order changes, and keep communication flowing between sales, drivers, and customers. Maximizing route efficiency, avoiding stock‑outs, and catching errors before they leave the yard are all part of a typical day.

What You’ll Be Doing
Scheduling
  • Prioritizing deliveries and scheduling order builds to meet customer commitments
  • Taking order requests and delegating and prioritizing the loading, building, and shipping of orders
  • Assigning and delegating tasks to Load Builders to ensure orders are built accurately and on schedule
  • Coordinating paperwork for all order requests in priority order
  • Performing quality checks on each load as a final double‑check before it leaves the yard
Logistics & Problem‑Solving
  • Ensuring all deliveries are maximized to their full potential – coordinating pickups on the return route whenever possible
  • Troubleshooting and problem‑solving product substitutions and order changes as they arise
  • Tracking product shipments through our tracking software
  • Reporting stock levels proactively to avoid stock‑outs
  • Creating purchase orders, placing orders, and checking inventory on‑hand as needed
  • Operating a forklift to load and unload trucks when required
Communication & Compliance
  • Maintaining ongoing communication with sales representatives, truck drivers, and customers to keep orders moving smoothly
  • Clearly and effectively communicating shipping‑related information to customers, vendors, and co‑workers via email and phone
  • Always working in compliance with WorkSafeBC Standards
What We’re Looking For

Here’s what will set you up for success in this role:

  • Strong coordination skills - you can assign work to load builders and drivers and keep people motivated during busy periods
  • Excellent organizational skills and exceptional time management - you can juggle multiple priorities without dropping the ball
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, especially when handling order changes, substitutions, or unexpected issues
  • Detail oriented with strong attention to accuracy - quality‑checking loads and catching errors before they leave the yard
  • Clear, effective communication skills via email and phone with customers, vendors, and co‑workers
  • A collaborative communicator who keeps sales, drivers, and customers informed and aligned
  • Ability to perform physical tasks involving stretching, bending, lifting, and carrying objects of varying weights
  • Ability to lift at least 50lbs
  • Experience with yard tools (cut saw, banding wrenches, truck straps, etc.) and equipment such as forklifts or reach trucks is an asset
  • Knowledge of purchase order creation, ordering, and checking inventory on‑hand is an asset
