Shift Supervisor, Transfusion Medicine S2 up to 8 FTE

Location: St. Paul’s Hospital, Vancouver

In accordance with PHSA's Purpose, Vision, Values, Coast Salish Teachings, and strategic direction, safety—both patient and employee—is a priority. This position involves supervising the evening shift operations, coordinating workload, monitoring quality control, troubleshooting, and performing technical work as a bench technologist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise evening shift operations, coordinate and plan work for technologists, and allocate staff as needed.
  • Monitor quality control, troubleshoot equipment and methods, and ensure preventive maintenance.
  • Perform technical work as a bench technologist.
  • Oversee routine quality of work, recommend improvements, and participate in departmental meetings.
  • Report issues to the Technical Leader and assist with staff orientation and training.
  • Monitor supply levels and maintain knowledge of developments in the field.
  • Participate actively in the laboratory team and ensure safety standards are met.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from a recognized Medical Laboratory Technology program plus three years’ recent related experience, including one year in a leadership role, or equivalent.
  • CSMLS Certification.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultural safety, anti-racism, and systemic impacts on health.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and commitments related to Indigenous Peoples and systemic racism.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and operate laboratory equipment.
Additional Information

This is a temporary, full-time role with a salary of $39.63/hour. The work hours are 13:15-22:45, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Sunday, and occasional Thursdays. Applications are accepted until filled.
