Job Description

The Shift Leader is responsible for directing process operators during their assigned shift within the crush and refinery departments. The role requires participation in a rotational shift schedule, including day and night shifts as scheduled.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with other Shift Leaders, facility management, and onsite colleagues to ensure efficient operations.
  • Ensure production of quality products safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulations and company standards.
  • Coordinate plant startup, shutdowns, and changeovers.
  • Respond to equipment issues and process alarms, investigate and resolve problems, conduct process walkthroughs, and train operators.
  • Provide clear updates regarding plant operations, including stoppages and equipment malfunctions.
  • Conduct quality control tests, data entry, and operate the HMI to support operators.
  • Analyze process data to optimize efficiency and product quality.
  • Lead emergency response efforts and contact authorities as necessary.
  • Coordinate with supervisors, maintenance, and contractors to support plant operations.
  • Assist in planning daily activities, assign work, and serve as a liaison between management and staff.
  • Manage staff schedules and ensure proper coverage.
  • Perform regular checks to ensure SOPs and quality standards are met, report deviations.
  • Provide training, enforce policies, and administer disciplinary actions if needed.
  • Follow environmental procedures and maintain records.
  • Assist with routine maintenance of equipment.
  • Ensure safety and food safety compliance, wear PPE, and enforce safety policies.
  • Maintain organized, clean, and hazard-free work areas.
  • Lead sanitation and shutdown activities as needed.
  • Oversee unloading/loading of raw materials and products.
  • Operate Powered Mobile Equipment including skid steers and front-end loaders.
  • Perform other operational, procurement, quality, safety, and maintenance duties as assigned.

    Experience & Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Experience in an industrial facility required.
    • Supervisory or team lead experience preferred.
    • Technical degree or vocational training preferred.
    • Experience with grain products preferred.
    • Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
    • Ability to climb stairs/ladders, work at heights, manage confined spaces, and lift 50+ pounds.
    • Mechanical aptitude, good communication, basic math, and computer skills (MS Office).
    • Organized, self-motivated, team-oriented.
    • Ability to operate machinery and control systems, and adhere to safety and food safety regulations.
    • Passion for agriculture and teamwork in a global company environment.
