Qualifications

• Available to work continental 12 hours shifts.
• Must be able to enter confined spaces, work at heights and follow Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
• Hold a valid Ontario driver’s license in good standing.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, flexible environment.

Responsibilities

• Shift Engineer 3rd Class Operating Engineer will oversee shift and supervise staff/contractors on site.
• Operate and maintain all plant equipment (4 boilers, water treatment, DCS, etc.).
• Monitor steam supply and pressure to meet site requirements.
• Perform regular checks on plant equipment.
• Use plant computer control systems to operate equipment for efficient energy delivery.
• Operate plant and distribution systems and related equipment.
• Participate in regular cleaning of plant and equipment.
• Adhere to Enwave's safety policies and procedures; ensure safe work practices.
• Issue safe work permits to maintenance personnel and contractors as required.

About the Role

The Shift Engineer 3rd Class Operating Engineer will be a key member of the Operations team by ensuring that St. Joseph hospital is provided with a reliable source of energy by operating and maintaining the Boiler house operations in a safe, economical and environmentally sound manner. The Shift engineer 3rd Class Operating Engineer will also be expected to perform all reasonable tasks or duties to assist the company as determined by Management. We are seeking a hardworking individual for a contract position who is passionate about decarbonization and has a strong desire to play an active role in the transition to clean energy.

Duties & Responsibilities

• The Shift Engineer 3rd Class Operating Engineer will be responsible for their shift and the direct supervision of any staff or contractors working in the plant during their shift.
• Operate and maintain all equipment at the plant including but not limited to 4 boilers, water treatment systems, computer control systems (DCS) and other plant related equipment.
• Monitor site requirements for steam supply and pressure.
• Perform all regular checks on plant equipment as required.
• Utilize the plant computer control system to monitor and operate plant equipment to ensure efficient and reliable energy delivery to the Hospital.
• Operation of the plant, distribution system and any related equipment.
• Participate in regular cleaning of the plant and the equipment.
• Perform all duties consistent with safe work practices as is generally practiced in industrial environments and in accordance with Enwave’s safety practices, policies, and procedures.
• Approve the issue of safe work permits to plant maintenance personnel and outside contractors in accordance with the Company’s safety policies.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with the company’s safety policies.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Applicants must possess a valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification for Operating Engineer 3rd Class.
• Applicant must demonstrate knowledge of energy production, heat transfer and distribution concepts.
• Excellent physical condition to meet the physical demands of the position.
• Previous maintenance experience would be an asset.
• Computer literacy: applicants must be proficient with technology and computers.
• Available to work continental 12 hours shifts schedule.
• Must be able to enter confined spaces, work at heights and demonstrate competence in Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
• Hold a valid Ontario driver's license in good standing.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment which requires a high level of flexibility and adaptability.

Compensation

$42.51 CAD per hour.
