The Headlines:

The 2nd Class Shift Engineer is responsible for completing Scheduled Maintenance on all assigned equipment, as well as supporting the day-to-day operations of the Utilities Department. Maintaining a safe work environment for self, others in the department and the brewery is the first priority. Expectations include monitoring equipment performance, conducting regular performance checks using automated systems and visual inspection, and identifying opportunities to improve the performance of equipment.

Scheduled maintenance and breakdown prevention will be a prime responsibility, but expectations will also include troubleshooting, and unplanned maintenance.

The pay rate for this role is $48.18/hr.

The Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance/repair of Utilities equipment providing steam, refrigeration, water, compressed air, wastewater and CO2 collection for the brewery.
  • Ensure efficient operation of steam supply and condensate return including lines, valves, traps, heat exchangers and pumps.
  • Completion of work orders as assigned, including ordering parts, working with contractors and use of CMMS to open and close work orders.
  • Work with operations depts to maintain, troubleshoot and repair utilities equipment in production areas
  • Preventative maintenance work on utilities equipment throughout the brewery
  • Daily repairs to equipment causing losses or inefficiencies in the Utilities department.

The Other Qualifications:

  • Minimum Ontario 2nd Class Operating Engineer Certificate (3rd class with some progress towards 2nd class certification can be considered with set time condition to complete)
  • Trade Qualification (red seal) Millwright or Refrigeration Mechanic preferred
  • Ability to work various shifts including graveyards and weekends as required
  • Experience in food and beverage manufacturing is an asset
