Armor People Link is hiring for a full time position of SEWER for our client based out in Scarborough. Our client is a manufacturing company that deals in office furniture such as chairs, tables, etc. The Sewer will operate an industrial sewing machine with a mixture of fabric and leather. They will sew seating for office chairs.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Creates slip covers skillfully and according to instructions.
  • Sews quality covers as an integral part of the production process for standard and special orders.
  • Aligns parts, fasteners, and trimmings following seams, edges, or markings.
  • Selects threads and zippers according to specifications or colour of parts.
  • Trims excess threads and edges of covers to achieve the desired look of quality product.
  • Identifies and addresses issues with materials, ensuring quality standards are upheld.
  • Manages time and prioritizes tasks to ensure completion of daily production schedule.
  • Steams completed chairs when required.
  • Assists new or temporary employees with understanding tasks.
  • Sews products within the allotted production standard time.
  • Performs all tasks in keeping with Keilhauer's safety and quality standards.
  • Maintains and cares for the sewing machine and other tools, keeps work areas clean and orderly, and informs the supervisor of issues.
  • Follows all company and OSHA safety regulations, works safely, and uses personal protective equipment as instructed; reinforces housekeeping and Keilhauer's core values.
Requirements
  • A dynamic, enthusiastic and collaborative professional who can perform manufacturing and general manual work duties.
  • A basic work ethic and good attitude as an employee, including hard work, self‑driving, eagerness to learn, good communication skills, time management, punctuality, and regular attendance.
  • Previous experience working in a fast‑paced manufacturing facility is an asset.
  • Completion of high school or training/education from a vocational/trade school is an asset.
  • General knowledge of industrial sewing machines and their use.
  • Rework skills and hand‑eye coordination are a must.
  • Double vaccination status is required.
Qualifications
  • General work knowledge and the ability to follow directions.
