Job description

The Regina Open Door Society (RODS) is a non-profit organization providing settlement and integration services to refugees and immigrants in Regina. RODS is committed to meeting the needs of newcomers through programs and services that enable their full participation in the community.

Located on Treaty 4 land in Regina, our work respects the traditional territories of the nêhiyawak/Cree, Nahkawē/Saulteaux, Anihšināpēk, Dakota, Lakota, Nakoda, and the Métis Nation.

RODS is seeking a qualified individual for a full-time term position as a Settlement Worker in Schools (SWIS), from July 2, 2025, to March 31, 2027. This role focuses on supporting French-speaking newcomer students and parents in Regina and surrounding rural communities.

The SWIS program is a partnership between RODS, Regina Public School Board, Regina Catholic Schools, Prairie Valley School Division, Conseil des Ecoles Fransaskoises, and IRCC, aimed at helping newcomers settle into schools and communities.

Qualifications
  • Fluency in French
  • 2-3 years of human services experience or related post-secondary education
  • Excellent communication, para-counselling, cross-cultural, leadership, motivational, and organizational skills
  • Ability to develop programs and work professionally in school settings
  • Criminal record check, child abuse registry check, reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and clean driver abstract
Other Requirements

The candidate must be able to travel to schools in Regina and surrounding areas and have access to a reliable vehicle.

Job Duties
  • Provide culturally-sensitive, linguistically-appropriate services
  • Assess needs of immigrant students and refer appropriately
  • Conduct group orientations and individual support sessions
  • Connect families with community services
  • Support parental involvement in schools and community activities
  • Participate in school reception, orientation, and cultural understanding sessions
  • Facilitate workshops for school personnel on immigrant and refugee youth issues
  • Assist families with settlement and immigration resources
  • Refer families to community resources and document referrals in RODS database
  • Advocate for families’ educational needs
Competencies
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a multicultural team environment
  • Experience with immigrant and refugee youth and families
  • Knowledge of settlement issues, community resources, and privacy policies
  • Casework skills including intake, referrals, and follow-up
  • Strong organizational and computer skills
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English; bilingual/multilingual preferred

The position hours are Monday to Friday, 8:15 AM to 3:45 PM. Salary is $43,646.85 annually ($24.87/hour). A benefits package is available after six months.
