Call for resumes to generate an availability list for Settlement, Settlement Support Worker in Schools (SSWIS) Caseworker, and Orientation Services for Newcomers.

The Regina Open Door Society (RODS) is a non-profit organization providing settlement and integration services to refugees and immigrants in Regina. RODS is committed to meeting the needs of newcomers through programs and services that enable them to achieve their goals and fully participate in the community.

The purpose of this competition is to generate a list of qualified applicants ready to accept assignments.

Located in Regina on Treaty 4 land, recognized as the traditional territory of the nêhiyawak/Cree, Nahkawē/Saulteaux, Anihšināpēk, Dakota, Lakota, Nakoda, and the Métis Nation.

RODS is seeking qualified individuals for the full-time, term position of Settlement & Settlement Support Worker in Schools Case Worker. The start date is to be determined. OSN provides newcomers with information, orientation, case planning, referrals, and support services to aid their adaptation and integration, especially for those with high and complex needs.

Services include:

  • Providing settlement services online, in person, and in groups
  • Assisting newcomers to understand Canadian systems through orientation, meetings, workshops, and individual sessions
  • Organizing and delivering orientation and information sessions
  • Offering guidance and referrals to support settlement and integration
  • Researching relevant programs and services
  • Providing culturally sensitive counseling
  • Facilitating access to services and resources
  • Supporting newcomers in navigating processes across service areas
  • Encouraging positive lifestyle adaptations
  • Promoting the program's role and providing citizenship education
  • Building links between community agencies and newcomer families
  • Consulting with agencies on settlement and cultural issues
  • Conducting satisfaction surveys
  • Supporting language, gender, age, cultural, and racial barriers with interpretation, translation, and transportation support
  • Maintaining regular contact with clients and assisting other service providers
  • Preparing reports and inputting data into RODS databases

Competencies include:

  • Delivering services online, in person, and in groups
  • Proficiency with platforms like Teams, Zoom, YouTube, Facebook
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team
  • Experience with immigrant and refugee families
  • Knowledge of settlement issues and local resources
  • Event coordination skills
  • Paraprofessional counseling and group facilitation skills
  • Understanding of privacy policies and the education system
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Computer literacy in Windows, MS Office, email; bilingual/multilingual skills are a plus

Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:15 AM to 4:00 PM. The annual salary ranges from $41,551.71 to $48,386.59. All positions require a clean criminal record check.
