Shell Trading Canada (STC) offers a unique opportunity to join its crude operations team and be part of its global trading network. We are seeking a Settlement Analyst (also known as Operations Support Analyst) to support traders by analyzing various information sources to maximize efficiencies.

This role is one of six positions within the Crude Trading Operations Support Team, responsible for managing the settlement of all Crude product movements. The position acts as a primary link between the Calgary team and Chennai, India-based financial groups, overseeing the settlement process and interfacing with external trade counterparties regarding pricing, volume, and invoicing. It also supports STC's growing lease business.

You will collaborate with top traders and operators, gaining valuable insights and experience, and develop a solid understanding of key systems involved in deal lifecycle, including Operations, Demurrage/Claims, Contracts, Credit, Risk Control, Scheduling, Analysis, and Trading strategies.

Accountabilities:
  • Interface with Traders, Commercial Operators, Contract Management, Support Analysts, and Accounting teams to resolve issues promptly.
  • Provide solutions to maximize profit on existing deals and explore hidden value.
  • Communicate trading needs effectively to traders, schedulers, and team members.
  • Support month-end processes for reporting production volumes and inventories, and reconcile data gaps.
  • Interpret lease agreements, pipeline statements, tariffs, and related documents to analyze and reconcile data variances.
  • Execute monthly lease and stream settlement plans, maintaining pricing components and customer data.
  • Manage large volumes of WIO, shipper balances, and tariff/EQ statements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for process enhancements.
  • Contribute to maximizing commercial added value.
What You Bring:
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in data analytics.
  • Knowledge of Python or SQL is advantageous.
  • Understanding of settlements and crude scheduling is desirable.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, including macro management.
  • Ability to handle multiple issues simultaneously with high energy.
  • Flexibility to work outside office hours during peak periods.
  • Exposure to fast-paced trading environments is a plus.

Note: The role requires contactability during weekends, evenings, and holidays, with possible late hours during peak times. On-site presence is required 3 days a week (Tues-Thurs), with optional attendance on Monday and Friday during settlement periods.
