Job summary

Squire John's Alpine Shop in The Blue Mountains is hiring a seasonal Service Tech to tune skis and snowboards, mount bindings, and help customers. You will work at Alpine Ski Club from October/November through April 15, with hours including weekends and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous ski/snowboard tech experience is an asset but training is provided.

• Reliable, punctual and able to work weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Tune skis and snowboards, including waxing, edge sharpening and base repair.
• Mount, adjust and test bindings to manufacturer specs and safety standards.
• Inspect equipment, diagnose issues, and communicate turnaround times.
• Maintain rental and demo equipment and service records.
• Work with sales team to deliver an exceptional customer experience.

SJ Shop - Alpine Part Time The Blue Mountains, ON

Location: Alpine Ski Club, 242 Arrowhead Rd #17, The Blue Mountains, ON

Employment type: Seasonal, Part-Time

Season: Approximately October/November – April 15th

Hours: Monday – Friday, Ski Operational Hours, Weekends, and Holidays as required.

Reports to: Managing Director / Shop Supervisor

Position Summary

As a seasonal Service Tech at our Alpine Ski Club location, you'll keep skis and snowboards tuned, safe and performing at their best all winter. Your careful, quality workmanship is what gets our customers back on the hill with confidence, and it's a big part of what sets Squire John's apart.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Tune skis and snowboards, including waxing, edge sharpening and base repair
• Mount, adjust and test bindings to manufacturer specifications and safety standards
• Inspect customer equipment, diagnose issues, and explain the work required and expected turnaround times
• Check equipment in and out, and communicate clearly with customers at drop-off and pickup
• Prepare and maintain rental and demo equipment as needed
• Keep accurate service records and manage the service queue to meet customer promises, especially during busy weekends and holidays
• Operate, clean and maintain tuning machines, tools and workshop equipment safely
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe workshop and workstation
• Track and restock shop supplies such as wax, abrasives and hardware, and flag low inventory
• Follow all health and safety and equipment-handling procedures
• Work closely with the sales team and the Alpine staff and members to deliver an exceptional customer experience
• Take on other service and shop duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a ski or snowboard tech is an asset, but we're happy to train someone with mechanical aptitude and a passion for winter sports
• Binding certification or other relevant technical training is an asset
• Strong mechanical skills, attention to detail and a commitment to safe, quality workmanship
• Comfortable working with hand tools, power tools and tuning machines
• Ability to manage time and prioritize work in a fast-paced shop
• Friendly, clear communication skills for working with customers and teammates
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently as well as part of a team
• Availability for the full winter season, including weekends and holidays
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
