Job summary

Qualifications

  • 0–1 year wind industry experience preferred.
  • Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Willingness to travel and work outdoors in varying weather.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on wind turbines.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Follow safety procedures including LOTO and PPE.
  • Complete maintenance reports and work orders.
  • Support 24/7 wind farm operations, including on-call and rotating shifts.
  • Assist with inspections, root cause analysis, and upgrades.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and certifications.
  • Collaborate with site teams for safe, efficient operations.

Service Technician - Bow Island, Alberta (m/f/d)

POSITION SUMMARY

The role of a Service Technician I directly supports the company's mission by ensuring the safe and efficient operation of wind turbine generators, which are integral to producing 100% renewable energy. The Service Technician I is responsible for performing turbine maintenance and operational tasks in accordance with high safety standards.

The role collaborates closely with the operational and back‑office teams to ensure a high level of availability in the wind farm, supporting strong service performance for our customers and contributing to the company’s future growth.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on wind turbines and related equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to support reliable turbine performance.
  • Follow safety procedures, including LOTO, hazard assessments, and proper use of PPE.
  • Complete maintenance reports, service documentation, and work orders accurately.
  • Support 24/7 wind farm operations, including on-call, overtime, and rotating shift coverage.
  • Assist with equipment inspections, root cause analysis, and system upgrades.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and required certifications.
  • Work closely with site teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operations.

WHAT YOU HAVE

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of technical training, experience, and safety certifications.
  • Wind, electrical, mechanical, or technical education/certification is an asset.
  • 0 to 1 year of wind industry experience preferred.
  • Experience using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working at heights over 300 feet (100 meters) and lifting up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and confined spaces.
  • Ability to travel for training and support at other sites as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements.
  • Ability to work in Canada without sponsorship and travel to the U.S. for onboarding and training.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards on every job.

  • Properly use applicable safety equipment, including but not limited to eye protection, hearing protectors, steel‑toe boots, and hard hats. Loose‑fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Speak and understand English fluently to effectively communicate safety and job‑related information, follow safety instructions, and collaborate with English‑speaking supervisors and team members.

The pay for this role is non‑exempt at $35 - $40 CAD hourly with up to a 5% bonus. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job‑related reasons.
