Description

Innovair Industrial is a proudly Canadian, Winnipeg-based independent distributor of compressed gases, welding supplies and related equipment. We're part of Innovair Group, a family-owned organization with a long history in Manitoba and a strong commitment to our employees, customers and communities.

We've been recognized as a CAFE Family Enterprise of the Year and Co-op Employer of the Year, and we're proud to offer an environment where people can build their careers, continue learning and make a meaningful contribution.

About the Role

If you’re the kind of person who likes figuring out how things work, why they stopped working, and how to get them running again, this could be a great fit.

Innovair Industrial is looking for a hands‑on, mechanically and electrically inclined Service Technician to join our Winnipeg team. You’ll work on welding machines, plasma cutters and other industrial equipment — diagnosing problems, completing repairs, performing preventative maintenance and calibrations, and helping our customers keep their equipment operating as it should.

This is a specialized role, and we don't expect you to know everything on day one. What matters most is that you come to us with a solid technical foundation, hands‑on experience working with equipment, and the curiosity and problem‑solving skills to learn. We'll provide training on the specific equipment and systems we work with and support you as you build your expertise .

What You’ll Do

  • Inspect, test and troubleshoot welding machines, plasma cutters and other industrial equipment to identify problems and determine required repairs.

  • Repair equipment, install replacement parts and test completed work to confirm proper operation.

  • Perform calibration checks to ensure customer equipment is operating within required tolerances and standards.

  • Complete preventative maintenance inspections to help customers minimize unexpected equipment downtime.

  • Provide on‑site service and technical support at customer locations as needed.

  • Communicate clearly with customers about their equipment, repairs and service needs.

  • Accurately document service work and equipment information in our service database.

  • Safely move equipment between storage and work areas using the appropriate equipment and techniques.

  • Help maintain a clean, organized and safe shop and warehouse.

  • Participate in manufacturer training to continue building your knowledge of the equipment and technology we service.

What We’re Looking For

We’re less concerned with where you learned your skills and more interested in what you’ve worked with.

You don't need a specific degree, diploma or trade certification for this role. We're looking for someone who already has a good hands‑on technical foundation that we can build on.

You’ll likely be a good fit if you:

  • 2+ years of relevant hands‑on experience in areas such as equipment repair, industrial maintenance, electrical/electronic troubleshooting, mechanical service or a similar technical environment.

  • Have hands‑on experience troubleshooting, repairing or maintaining electrical, electronic, mechanical or industrial equipment.

  • Are comfortable using tools, testing equipment and working through technical problems to determine what's causing an issue.

  • Can read and work from technical manuals, diagrams, specifications and other equipment documentation.

  • Are comfortable using a computer to document your work and navigate the systems and resources needed to do your job.

  • Enjoy learning and are willing to participate in manufacturer training to develop your knowledge of the equipment we service.

  • Can work independently once trained, while also being comfortable asking questions and collaborating with the rest of the team.

  • Have a valid Class 5 Manitoba driver's licence with a clear driving abstract.

  • Are comfortable travelling for customer service and training, including occasional domestic or international trips of up to seven consecutive days.

  • Are physically capable of lifting, pushing and pulling up to 75 lbs and safely maneuvering equipment weighing up to 1,500 lbs using appropriate equipment and techniques

Experience that would be an asset

  • Experience working with welding machines, plasma cutters or similar industrial equipment.

  • Welding experience or familiarity with welding processes.

  • Training or experience in electronics, electrical systems or electronic troubleshooting.

  • Experience servicing equipment in a customer‑facing environment.

We believe great work should come with great support. When you join Innovair , you can expect:

  • 3 weeks of annual vacation : So you have time to rest, recharge and enjoy life outside of work throughout the year.

  • Benefits from day one : C omprehensive health and dental coverage, plus life insurance, critical illness, short- and long-term disability coverage and more, with no waiting period.
