Service Technician

The Service Technician is responsible for performing service, repair, and preventive maintenance work on automatic door systems in accordance with company standards and customer expectations.

This entry‑level role requires adherence to safety and quality guidelines, operating within defined standard operating procedures, and working under close supervision. Basic technical skills related to hand tools and service processes are required, as well as responsible operation of a company fleet vehicle.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Service and Maintenance
    • Perform service, repair, and preventive maintenance on automatic door systems following detailed instructions and established procedures.
    • Conduct general preventive maintenance, including cleaning tracks and replacing wear items such as wheels, guides, and tracks.
    • Solve routine problems using written materials and quick reference guides.
    • Seek guidance from senior technicians or leaders as needed.
    • Follow directions closely and manage own work within defined parameters.
    • Test equipment before leaving job sites and perform safety checks.
    • Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.
    • Submit expense reports promptly.
    • Complete other duties as assigned.
  • Fleet Vehicle and Tool Management
    • Operate fleet vehicle safely with a valid driver’s license.
    • Maintain vehicles and tools in clean, professional condition.
    • Manage parts inventory and vehicle maintenance records.
  • Quality Assurance
    • Ensure service workmanship meets company quality standards and complies with safety regulations.
    • Maintain accurate records of product defects and report them.
    • Stay updated on equipment changes and ANSI156.10 standards through published communications.
    • Maintain neat personal and professional appearance.
  • Safety Compliance
    • Adhere to safety protocols and utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
    • Perform equipment checks and ensure tools and fleet vehicle are operational.
    • Maintain awareness of potential safety hazards and report to leaders.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Maintain good customer relations and provide excellent customer service.
    • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and customers.
    • Participate in team meetings and activities professionally.
  • Workspace Maintenance
    • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
    • Store tools and equipment properly.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability
    • Work overtime, nights, weekends, or on-call as instructed to meet customer expectations.
    • Cross‑train in other areas and adjust to new processes or technologies.
Qualifications

Physical Demands
  • Manual Dexterity: handle parts and tools with precision.
  • Motion: bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, stooping, lifting, gripping, climbing ladders, sitting while driving fleet vehicle to and from job site, and grasping with hands.
  • Standing Duration: stand on concrete for 8+ hours.
  • Lifting Requirements: lift, carry, and move weights from 50‑100 lbs.
  • Environmental Exposure: work in environments with noise, chemicals, dust, sharp objects, moving or rotating mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electricity, poor lighting, wet conditions, outdoor environments, and temperature extremes.
