Your role and responsibilities
This position is ideally suited for a self-driven operational manager with a strong technical focus. The successful candidate will take ownership of all operational aspects within the Marine and Ports Service unit. Reporting to the Service Manager, Marine, you will be a critical pillar in our small and dynamic team.
Responsibilities
- Manage all operational aspects of the marine and ports service unit, starting with the hand-over from sales until successful project completion.
- Lead the execution of small to medium-sized service projects, ensuring all activities comply with ABB policies, contractual agreements, quality standards, health, safety & environment requirements, financial targets, and schedule commitments.
- Monitor and control project financials, oversee invoicing, identify and manage project risks, and pursue all opportunities.
- Ensure profitable growth and service productivity through the day-to-day execution of sales orders, maintaining quality and customer satisfaction.
- Manage a team of field service engineers and project managers, ensuring proper organization, staffing, and direction.
- Enforce a safety and integrity culture within the Service organization.
- Build sustainable customer relationships to foster growth, satisfaction, and retention, collaborating with Sales.
- Support Sales during business development, tender preparation, and customer meetings to drive service growth.
- Occasionally support as Field Service Engineering Representative, executing maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational problem resolution.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills in English and French (French required, English preferred for communication outside Quebec).
- Availability to travel >20% of the time.
- Bachelor's degree and 10 years' marine industry experience.
- High technical expertise in Marine service industry, preferably marine drives, automation systems, AC and DC power systems.
- Customer-focused attitude.
- Ability to self-learn and operate autonomously.
- Proficiency with ABB’s internal tools.
- Ability to thrive in a small, fast-paced, flat organizational structure.
- Self-driven, resourceful, and proactive in seeking information.
- Committed to continuous learning and professional development.
- Detail-oriented in work execution.
