This position reports to

Americas Service Sales Manager

Your role and responsibilities

This position is ideally suited for a self-driven operational manager with a strong technical focus. The successful candidate will take ownership of all operational aspects within the Marine and Ports Service unit. Reporting to the Service Manager, Marine, you will be a critical pillar in our small and dynamic team.

  1. Manage all operational aspects of the marine and ports service unit; starting with the hand-over from sales until successful completion of the project.
  2. Lead the execution of small to medium-size service projects and ensure that all related activities are performed in accordance with ABB policy, contractual agreements, quality standards, health, safety & environment requirements, financial targets, as well as schedule commitments.
  3. Monitor and control project financials, oversee project invoicing status, identify, and manage project risks, and ensure that all opportunities are identified and pursued.
  4. Run the day-to-day Service execution of sales orders to ensure profitable growth and improvement of Service productivity. Ensure consistency in quality and customer satisfaction.
  5. Manage a team of dedicated field service engineers and project managers. Ensure that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, and directed.
  6. Enforce a Service safety and integrity culture throughout the Service organization.
  7. Build sustainable customer relationships to ensure local client growth, satisfaction, and retention together with Sales.
  8. Support Sales resources in business development phase, tender preparation, and customer meetings. Drive Service growth.
  9. Occasionally support as FSE (Field Service Engineering) Representative executing maintenance activities, troubleshooting, and resolving the customers' operational problems and optimizing the performance of their equipment.

Qualifications for the role

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French. French is required. English is also required to communicate with customers outside Quebec on a regular basis.
  • Available to travel >20% time.
  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years' marine industry experience.
  • High level of technical know-how in Marine service industry, preferably marine drives and automation systems, AC and DC power systems.

  • Manage ABB's internal tools.
  • Thrives in a small, fast-paced team with flat organizational structure.
  • Self-driven and able to work independently with minimal oversight.

  • Detail-oriented in work.
  • Works in accordance with ABB procedures using applicable tools during the proposal process.
