Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and highly motivated Service Group Accountant to join our Service Group Accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in property or commercial services accounting and will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and preparing financial reports for the management and payroll processing companies.

Key Responsibilities

• Interacting with internal and external customers regarding services provided and resolution of discrepancies.
• Monitor and analyze corporate and divisional expenses.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for multiple divisions.
• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements for service group entities.
• Provide accurate and timely financial and ad hoc reports to senior management.
• Taxable benefit tracking and WCB compliance reporting for payroll department.
• Supervision and mentorship of support staff in the processing and reconciliation of accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Perform daily bank reconciliations and prepare journal entries.
• Preparation of monthly GST filings ensuring compliance in a manner that minimizes GST slippage.
• Creation and maintenance of Service Group playbooks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a minimum of 5+ years of experience working in the commercial real estate or commercial services field.
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles and practices.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
• Ability to work well as a member of a team.
• Experience with Yardi Voyager software and Sage 50 is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with advanced functions is preferred.
• Understanding of Provincial and Federal payroll legislation would be considered an asset.
