Job summary

Glens Falls Hospital in New York is seeking an Emergency Department Registered Nurse for overnight coverage. You will provide rapid assessments, deliver urgent care, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality patient outcomes in a fast-paced ED.

The role requires graduation from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred. ACLS, PALS, and stroke certifications are expected or obtained within the first year.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Professional Nursing Program.
• BSN preferred; associates must complete BSN within 5 years.
• Current ACLS, PALS, and stroke certifications (or plan to obtain within first year).
• Work authorization for US/ TN visa eligibility under USMCA where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Perform rapid, accurate patient assessments to prioritize care based on acuity.
• Administer emergency medications and manage IV lines.
• Care for ED beds in collaboration with physicians and staff, planning for discharge.
• Collaborate with physicians and staff during rounds for seamless care.
• Provide bedside shift reports and patient education.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives to elevate care in the ED.

As an Emergency Department Registered Nurse, you'll provide rapid assessments, deliver urgent and compassionate care, and partner with multidisciplinary teams to ensure outstanding outcomes for a diverse patient population.

How You Will Fulfill Your Potential (Responsibilities)

• Perform rapid, accurate patient assessments to prioritize care based on acuity and clinical urgency
• Administer emergency medications, manage advanced IV lines, and execute life-saving interventions under pressure
• Manage the delivery of care for your assigned ED beds in tight collaboration with attending physicians and emergency staff, anticipating discharge or transition needs from the moment of admission
• Partner openly with physicians, tech staff, and specialists during multidisciplinary rounds to ensure seamless, timely care
• Promote trust and rapport through bedside shift reports, patient education, and compassionate communication that honors the Patient's Bill of Rights
• Champion evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives to constantly elevate our care environment

What You Bring (Qualifications)

• Education: Graduate of an accredited Registered Professional Nursing Program
• Note: BSN preferred. Associate degree hires must complete their BSN within 5 years (RNs with 20+ years of experience can substitute an advanced certification for the BSN requirement).
• Certifications: Current ACLS, PALS, and stroke certifications (or a willingness to obtain them within your first year)
• Skills: Excellent clinical judgment, rapid problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to remain calm and effective during medical emergencies
• Work Authorization: This position is open to candidates with valid U.S. work authorization, as well as Canadian citizens eligible for TN Visa status under the USMCA.
