Job summary

Sienna Senior Living is seeking a casual on-call Dining Room Server to support weekend dining service at Aspira Peninsula Retirement Living, Surrey. The role involves hospitality-style service, helping with food preparation, and maintaining a clean, safe dining environment for residents.

Ideal candidates will have at least 1 year in dining room service, certifications in Serving It Right and Food Safe, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of dining room service experience.
• Serving It Right certificate or willingness to obtain within 30 days.
• Food Safe certificate or willingness to obtain within 30 days.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Experience with seniors is an asset.
• Strong customer service skills with residents from diverse backgrounds.
• Proficient English communication, both verbal and written.
• AI screening may be used in selection.

Responsibilities

This is aCasual (ON-CALL) position to pick up shifts when we are short-staffed.

We are looking for someone who would be able to pick upany of the below shifts for weekends (Sat/Sun):

• 11:00am - 7:00pm
• 11:30am - 7:30pm

What You'll Be Doing:

Reporting to the Dining Room Manager, the Dining Room Server is accountable to support all aspects of hospitality style dining room service to meet the needs of the Residents in accordance with legislative requirements and organization standards.

• Responsible for all aspects of hospitality style dining service utilizing the Ready, Set, Serve Program as it applies to the serving areas, setting, serving and cleaning tables;
• Assists with the preparation and presentation of food under the direction of the Chef;
• Practices and maintains established standards for cleanliness and sanitation throughout all aspects of food preparation and service as required by the health department;
• Promotes and tracks a la carte and wine service sales in accordance with prescribed procedures;
• Complies with all provincial regulations, established food and beverage department policies and procedures and ORCA standards to ensure the department is tour ready;
• Participates in drills to prepare for emergencies and attends all education sessions in relation to emergency preparedness.
• Work in accordance with the organization's Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act

What you need to know:

• Minimum One (1) of experience in dining room service;
• Must have the Serving it Right Certificate, or willing to obtain within 30 days of employment;
• Must have the Food Safe Certificate, or willing to obtain within 30 days of employment;
• Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team;
• Experience working with seniors and knowledge of the aging process an asset;
• Proven customer service skills to work with residents of various cultural backgrounds
• Effective verbal and written English communication skills required
