Job summary

Sienna Senior Living in Port Coquitlam is seeking a Server for a casual on-call position to pick up shifts when short-staffed. The role offers a $21.38/hr rate and requires weekend availability, with an 11:00am-7:00pm shift window on any day of the week.

As part of Aspira Mayfair Terrace Retirement Living, you will help provide a safe, welcoming dining experience and support residents’ health and well-being through meal service. Join a team dedicated to dignity and daily happiness.

Qualifications

• Basic serving experience is required.
• Serve It Right certificate, or willingness to obtain within 30 days.
• Food Safe certificate, or willingness to obtain within 30 days.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Experience working with seniors is an asset.
• Strong customer service skills with residents from diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada or hold a valid work permit.
• Must pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check.

This is a Casual (ON-CALL) position to pick up shifts when we are short-staffed.

We are looking for someone who would be able to pick up an 11:00am-7:00pm shift any day of the week. Weekend availability is required.

What you’ll be doing:

As a Server, you will support residents’ health and well-being by assisting with meal preparation and service, ensuring a safe, clean, and pleasant dining experience every day. As an individual and part of a wider team, you will be a strong contributor to the culture of the home, where the focus is always on helping residents live fully, every day.

What makes you a great fit?

• Responsible for all aspects of hospitality style dining service utilizing the Ready, Set, Serve Program as it applies to the serving areas, setting, serving and cleaning tables;
• Practices and maintains established standards for cleanliness and sanitation throughout all aspects of food preparation and service as required by the health department;
• Promotes and tracks a la carte and wine service sales in accordance with prescribed procedures;
• Assists with the preparation and presentation of food under the direction of the Chef;
• Complies with all provincial regulations, established food and beverage department policies and procedures and ORCA standards to ensure the department is tour ready;
• Participates in drills to prepare for emergencies and attends all education sessions in relation to emergency preparedness.
• Work in accordance with the organization’s Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act

What you need to know:

• Basic Serving experience is required;
• Must have Serve it Right Certificate, or willing to obtain within 30 days;
• Must have Food Safe Certificate, or willing to obtain within 30 days;
• Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team;
• Experience working with seniors and knowledge of the aging process an asset;
• Proven customer service skills to work with residents of various cultural backgrounds
• Effective verbal and written English communication skills required
• You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work/study permit
• You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check
