Job summary

Retirement Concepts is seeking a Part-Time Server for Summerland Seniors Village in Summerland, BC. The role covers dining room and room service with a focus on quality resident experience.

You will report to the Support Services Manager and contribute to a clean, friendly dining environment, participating in community programs and emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

• 1-2 year's experience in a dining room environment is an asset.
• Food Safe Level 1 Certificate.
• Serving It Right Certificate as applicable.
• WHMIS Certificate.
• Demonstrates collaborative and team working skills.
• All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines.
• Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently and understand verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to operate related food service equipment.

Responsibilities

• Prepares dining room for services: setting tables, stocking items, assisting in food/beverage service.
• Cleans dining area: clearing/bussing tables, washing dishes when required per Infection Protection guidelines.
• Maintain a pleasant dining environment, protecting residents' dignity and safety.
• Promote positive communication among staff, residents and the public.
• Assist with housekeeping and laundry duties as needed.
• Attend community/education programs.
• Respond to resident and building emergencies.
• Perform other duties as required.

This position is covered under the HEABC wage levelling. Please note the wage is currently being adjusted and topped up by the government and the displayed wage is therefore reflective of such initiative.

Location: Summerland Seniors Village (Summerland, BC)

Position: Part-Time Permanent (3:30pm-8:00pm shifts)

About The Role

The Server reports to the Support Services Manager and/or designate and performs all aspects of service in the dining room, resident lounges and room service for residents, guests, and the public. The Server provides quality customer service to all persons served as relates to the culinary experience at our communities.

Responsibilities

• Prepares dining room for all services which includes; setting tables, stocking necessary items, assisting the preparation, presentation and serving of food and beverages.
• Carries out general cleaning duties in the dining room which includes; clearing and bussing tables, scrapping and at times washing dishes while following the company's Infection Protection and Control guidelines.
• Establish and maintain an atmosphere conducive to pleasant dining by creating an environment which maintains the happiness, self-respect, general dignity and physical safety of each resident.
• Promote and maintain positive communication and relationships among staff, residents and the public.
• Responsible for some or all tasks related to housekeeping and laundry duties as required.
• Attends and participates in community and education programs.
• Responds to resident and building emergencies.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications And Skills

• Grade 10 or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• 1-2 year's experience in a dining room environment an asset.
• Food Safe Level 1 Certificate
• Serving It Right Certificate as applicable.
• WHMIS Certificate.
• Demonstrates collaborative and team working skills.
• All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines.
• Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently and understand verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to operate related food service equipment.
• Must be in good health, physically able to operate food service equipment and tasks related to the position. Also, must be free from communicable diseases and allergies or conditions which may be aggravated by working with cleaners, detergents, and equipment.
