Job summary

Retirement Concepts is seeking a Server to join our dining services. You will assist in dining room service for residents, guests, and the public, ensuring a high standard of customer care and a safe, pleasant dining environment.

Reporting to the Support Services Manager, you will help with setting tables, serving meals, and maintaining cleanliness. The role requires ability to read and follow instructions and to work well with staff and residents in a respectful, supportive atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Grade 10 or equivalent
• 1-2 years experience in a dining room environment (asset)
• Food Safe Level 1 Certificate
• Serving It Right Certificate as applicable
• WHMIS Certificate
• Demonstrates collaborative and team working skills
• Vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check required
• Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently
• Ability to operate related food service equipment
• Must be in good health and able to perform duties with cleaners, detergents and equipment

Responsibilities

• Prepares dining room for services: setting tables, stocking items, assisting with food/beverage service
• Cleans dining room areas, bussing tables, scrapping and sometimes washing dishes per Infection Protection and Control guidelines
• Maintains a pleasant dining atmosphere ensuring dignity and safety of residents
• Promotes positive communication among staff, residents, and the public
• Performs housekeeping and laundry duties as required
• Attends community and education programs
• Responds to resident and building emergencies
• Performs other duties as required

About The Role

The Server reports to the Support Services Manager and/or designate and performs all aspects of service in the dining room, resident lounges and room service for residents, guests, and the public. The Server provides quality customer service to all persons served as relates to the culinary experience at our communities.

Responsibilities

• Prepares dining room for all services which includes; setting tables, stocking necessary items, assisting the preparation, presentation and serving of food and beverages.
• Carries out general cleaning duties in the dining room which includes; clearing and bussing tables, scrapping and at times washing dishes while following the company’s Infection Protection and Control guidelines.
• Establish and maintain an atmosphere conducive to pleasant dining by creating an environment which maintains the happiness, self-respect, general dignity and physical safety of each resident.
• Promote and maintain positive communication and relationships among staff, residents and the public.
• Responsible for some or all tasks related to housekeeping and laundry duties as required.
• Attends and participates in community and education programs.
• Responds to resident and building emergencies.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications And Skills

• Grade 10 or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• 1-2 year’s experience in a dining room environment an asset.
• Food Safe Level 1 Certificate
• Serving It Right Certificate as applicable.
• WHMIS Certificate.
• Demonstrates collaborative and team working skills.
• All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines.
• Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently and understand verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to operate related food service equipment.
• Must be in good health, physically able to operate food service equipment and tasks related to the position. Also, must be free from communicable diseases and allergies or conditions which may be aggravated by working with cleaners, detergents, and equipment.
