Job summary

West Coast Seniors Housing Management Limited Partnership is seeking a Server to join our dining rooms, resident lounges and room service teams. You will deliver quality dining experiences to residents, guests and the public while upholding infection control guidelines and safety standards.

Supported by the Support Services Manager, you will prepare the dining room, assist with serving and maintain a clean, pleasant environment.

Qualifications

• Grade 10 or equivalent education.
• 1–2 years of dining room experience is preferred.
• Serving It Right certification as applicable.
• WHMIS certification.
• Must pass vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check per provincial guidelines.
• Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently.
• Ability to operate related food service equipment.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare dining room for service: set tables, stock items, assist with prep, presentation and serving of food and beverages.
• Maintain dining room cleanliness and adhere to Infection Prevention and Control guidelines.
• Create a pleasant dining atmosphere ensuring residents’ happiness, dignity, and safety.
• Promote good communication among staff, residents and the public.
• Participate in housekeeping and laundry duties as required; attend community/education programs; respond to emergencies.

About the Role

The Server reports to the Support Services Manager and/or designate and performs all aspects of service in the dining room, resident lounges and room service for residents, guests, and the public. The Server provides quality customer service to all persons served as relates to the culinary experience at our communities.

Responsibilities

Include but not limited to:

• Be an engaged collaborative team player, developing andmaintaining professional relationships that support and strengthen theorganizational culture and purpose.
• Prepares dining room for all services which includes; settingtables, stocking necessary items, assisting the preparation, presentation and servingof food and beverages.
• Carries out general cleaning duties in the dining roomwhich includes; clearing and bussing tables, scrapping and at times washingdishes while following the company’s Infection Protection and Controlguidelines.
• Establish and maintain an atmosphere conducive topleasant dining by creating an environment which maintains the happiness,self-respect, general dignity and physical safety of each resident.
• Promote and maintain positive communication andrelationships among staff, residents and the public.
• Responsible for some or all tasks related tohousekeeping and laundry duties as required.
• Attendsand participates in community and education programs.
• Respondsto resident and building emergencies.
• Perform other duties as required

Qualifications and Skills:

• Grade 10 or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• 1-2 year’s experience in a dining room environment anasset.
• Serving It Right Certificate as applicable.
• WHMIS Certificate.
• All successful applicants must pass the vulnerablesector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines.
• Ability to read, write and speak English proficientlyand understand verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to operate related food service equipment.
• Ability to push, pull, stoop, crouch, lift and carry up to 30 lbs. Must be able to work with cleaners, detergents and other cleaning equipment.
