Job summary

Chartwell Retirement Residences in Owen Sound is seeking a part-time Dining Server to provide high-quality meal service and hospitality to residents and guests. You will prepare and serve meals, set and clear tables, and support catering events while maintaining a clean and safe dining environment.

Ideal candidates bring kitchen experience, strong reading/communication skills, empathy for seniors, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Experience in a kitchen is an asset.
• Read and communicate effectively; follow written/verbal instructions.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds; operate related equipment.
• Current Safe Food Handler’s Certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food for serving to residents and guests.
• Take orders, set and strip tables, and serve meals and beverages.
• Unpack and store supplies; keep dining and storage areas clean and organized.
• Wash, clean and sort dishes, cutlery, and equipment.
• Operate and clean food equipment and maintain dining area.
• All other duties as assigned.

Owen Sound Retirement Residence, Part time opportunity

We’re looking for a Dining Server. This role is responsible for serving meals and servicing catering events while ensuring an exceptional dining experience to residents and guests.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare food for serving to the residents and ensuring resident satisfaction with meal service
• Take orders, setting and stripping tables and serving food/beverages in accordance with established policies and procedures and all applicable regulations
• Unpack and store supplies; maintain work and storage areas in a clean, safe sanitary manner
• Wash, clean and sort dishes, cutlery, fixtures and equipment used for food preparation and service
• Operate and clean food equipment, furniture and maintain dining area
• All other duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring

• Experience working in a kitchen is considered an asset
• Must be able to read and communicate effectively, and follow written/verbal instructions
• Ability to lift up to and including 50 pounds is considered an asset
• Must be able to operate related equipment
• Demonstrate empathy and understanding of the needs of seniors
• Ability to organize work and work under strict time constraints
• Must have a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness
• Current Safe Food Handler’s Certification
