Job summary

Chartwell is seeking a Dining Server for our Dufferin Centre Retirement Residence in Trenton, ON. This part-time role focuses on serving meals and supporting catering events while ensuring an exceptional dining experience for residents and guests.

You will prepare meals for serving, take orders, set and clear tables, and maintain a clean, sanitary dining environment. The job requires effective communication, physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds, and a strong emphasis on resident

Qualifications

• Experience working in a kitchen is a plus.
• Proficient reading and verbal communication; follow written and verbal instructions.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and operate related equipment.
• Demonstrate empathy and understanding of seniors’ needs.
• Organized, able to work under strict time constraints; maintain hygiene.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals for residents and ensure satisfaction with service.
• Take orders, set and clear tables, and serve food and beverages.
• Unpack and store supplies; keep work and storage areas clean and sanitary.
• Wash, clean, and sort dishes, cutlery, and kitchen equipment.
• Operate and clean dining area equipment and maintain the dining space.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Dining Server. This role is responsible for serving meals and servicing catering events while ensuring an exceptional dining experience to residents and guests.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare food for serving to the residents and ensuring resident satisfaction with meal service
• Take orders, setting and stripping tables and serving food/beverages in accordance with established policies and procedures and all applicable regulations
• Unpack and store supplies; maintain work and storage areas in a clean, safe sanitary manner
• Wash, clean and sort dishes, cutlery, fixtures and equipment used for food preparation and service
• Operate and clean food equipment, furniture and maintain dining area
• All other duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring

• Experience working in a kitchen is considered an asset
• Must be able to read and communicate effectively, and follow written/verbal instructions
• Ability to lift up to and including 50 pounds is considered an asset
• Must be able to operate related equipment
• Demonstrate empathy and understanding of the needs of seniors
• Ability to organize work and work under strict time constraints
• Must have a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness
• Current Safe Food Handler’s Certification
