Job summary

Canadian National Inc. is seeking a Senior Specialist Workers' Compensation in Montreal, on a 12-month contract.

The role manages end-to-end disability claims and Return-to-Work programs, partnering with the Manager, Workers' Compensation to resolve barriers to timely RTW. Responsibilities include claims intake, data entry into SAP within 24 hours, medical review, WCB liaison, and representation in appeals, while ensuring compliance with provincial legislation and CN policies.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in disability management, workers' compensation, or insurance claims administration.
• Experience in workplace accommodation, return-to-work planning, and claim resolution.
• Experience interpreting and applying workers' compensation legislation, policies, and business procedures.
• Experience working with a federally regulated employer.
• Employment at a provincial workers' compensation board.
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Review and process all new claims by entering data into SAP within 24 hours of notification.
• Investigate and validate each new injury claim with supporting documentation and report to the applicable provincial WCB.
• Communicate with employees, managers, and stakeholders to facilitate the claims process and identify RTW opportunities.
• Review medical documentation to confirm diagnosis and treatment relate to the original injury and readiness for RTW.
• Liaise with the provincial WCB on RTW planning, secondary reviews, and appeals.
• Initiate, prepare, and represent CN in secondary reviews, appeals, and medical arbitration proceedings before Provincial Tribunals and Appeal Commissions.
• Maintain comprehensive claim files with claim details, statuses, and action plans.
• Research and interpret relevant WCB policies and legislation to ensure CN compliance with benefits.
• Manage and resolve long-standing disability claims where accommodation opportunities exhausted.
