Job summary

Ontario First Nations Technical Services Corporation (OFNTSC) seeks a Water and Wastewater Engineer to provide technical advisory and professional engineering services to Ontario First Nations. You will work under the Manager of Engineering, delivering assessments, reports, and project deliverables across water and wastewater systems.

The role requires 7+ years in water/wastewater, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to liaise with First Nations and government bodies.

Qualifications

• Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario and in good standing with PEO.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in water and wastewater infrastructure within municipal or First Nation communities.
• Strong knowledge of water treatment systems, processes, and infrastructure.
• Understanding of regulatory requirements, codes, standards and guidelines.
• Strong technical writing, report writing, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Project management and technical advisory experience is an asset.
• Experience working with First Nation communities is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional engineering and technical advisory services related to water and wastewater systems.
• Conduct assessments, investigations, and condition assessments, and prepare technical reports and recommendations.
• Prepare, review, and manage engineering reports, technical documentation, and project deliverables.
• Develop terms of reference, scopes of work, and project requirements for water and wastewater projects.
• Review and provide input on feasibility studies, designs, specifications prepared by consultants.
• Participate in project teams to deliver water and wastewater projects for First Nation communities.
• Provide technical assistance to First Nations for regulatory reporting and compliance.
• Advise First Nations and Tribal Councils on codes, standards, and guidelines.
