Job summary

St. Joseph Communications (SJC) is seeking a Senior Manager, Video Production to lead our video team across Toronto Life, Maclean's, Chatelaine, FASHION, HELLO! Canada and more. The role combines leadership with hands-on production, driving new formats and scalable workflows.

You will stay involved in concepting, scripting, directing, shooting and editing while building a modern AI-forward operation, collaborating with editorial and commercial teams to grow impact and revenue.

Qualifications

• Significant experience producing standout video across content, media or agency environments.
• Portfolio showing strong visual storytelling across formats and platforms.
• Maker mentality: script, produce, direct, shoot and edit.
• Strong knowledge of Adobe Premiere and the broader video production ecosystem.
• A deep understanding of social/digital video and audience behavior.
• Experience managing budgets, schedules, freelancers, and multiple productions.
• Familiar with AI and emerging technology with editorial standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop our video creators, editors and interns, building a collaborative team culture.
• Create new formats and franchises, not just execute existing work.
• Stay hands-on: concepting, scripting, directing, shooting and editing.
• Oversee quick-turn social videos to major editorial shoots, live productions, client campaigns and events.
• Partner with editorial, social and audience teams to ensure brand-specific video voice.
• Use performance data to guide future production decisions.
• Build AI-forward workflows and simple production tech stacks.
