Job description

The Senior Vice President, Auto Insurance is responsible for setting the strategic direction and driving the growth of Navacord BC (formerly Waypoint Insurance)’s Auto Insurance business, including Auto Dealership operations. This role plays a critical role in growing revenue, increasing market share, and enhancing team performance through sales management, client acquisition, retention, and operations strategies.

This individual will provide strategic leadership, coaching, and mentorship to Regional and Operational Leaders. By working collaboratively with key stakeholders, they will ensure operational excellence, support business growth initiatives, and strengthen Navacord's position within the Auto Insurance market in BC.

This is a hybrid role with flexibility to work in-office, based on the needs of the business. Preference will be given to candidates that can work hybrid out of one our Vancouver Regional Office. Travel to locations within British Columbia will be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Auto Strategy and Performance
  • Sets the direction, vision, and strategy for Branches, Auto Dealerships, and Operations in alignment with Auto strategies and objectives.
  • Defines, monitors, and communicates key performance indicators for Branch, Regional, Dealership, and Operations teams across sales, retention, service, and operational metrics.
  • Monitors performance against established targets, providing coaching, guidance, and corrective support to drive continuous improvement and achieve results.
  • Stays up to date on market trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities.
  • Oversees implementation of the operating plan, including budget oversight, location management, expansion planning, and customer experience.
  • Works with Personal Lines New Business and Retention Leads to establish standard operating procedures for resource management.
Leadership
  • Provides high level direction, coaching and mentorship to Regional and Operational leads within the department.
  • Designs, develops, and implements a comprehensive Auto line strategy to align the Branch, Contact Centre, and Dealership leadership teams with overall business objectives.
  • Provides subject matter expertise, coaching, and leadership to Department Leads (e.g. ICBC products, guidelines and private auto insurance manuals, leading practices, and systems).
  • Collaborates with leaders across the organization on strategic planning and initiatives, providing Auto insurance expertise and insights.
  • Provides strategic guidance to regional teams in developing and implementing sales plans and ensures Regional Leads leverage the Sales Enablement function and available resources to optimize customer experience.
Business Development & Retention
  • Leads the implementation of new customer acquisition and renewal strategies within Branches, as well as region-specific sales initiatives, ensuring sales processes effectively communicate Navacord's value proposition.
  • Monitors sales and growth performance against established targets.
  • Nurtures strategic partnerships to drive sales and identify cross-selling and up-selling opportunities.
  • Drives and monitors Dealership Operations sales, growth, and performance against established targets, providing coaching and performance improvement support where required.

Additional duties and responsibilities may be added during the course of employment.

REQUIREMENTS
  • 15+ years of experience in the Canadian insurance industry, preferably in BC.
  • General Insurance Level 3 in BC and CAIB designation or other equivalent designation.
  • Strong relationships with brokers, carriers and other industry members within BC and Canada.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire teams, fostering a culture of high performance.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking and planning abilities, with experience in developing and executing operational strategies.

The salary range for this role is $170,000 CAD to $200,000 CAD per year, plus discretionary bonuses. Compensation is determined by a combination of factors including a candidate’s experience, job-specific knowledge, and skills. Internal equity to ensure fairness across the organization and region/location is also considered.
