Job description

About Us:

Wrapbook is the AI platform for production finance. We’re building a system of action that puts finance teams in control of their whole production, from payroll, to spend, to accounting.

Built for feature films, TV, and commercials, Wrapbook is trusted by teams at Netflix, Paramount, Anonymous Content, and more. With backing from Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, and Jeffrey Katzenberg's WndrCo, our team of 350+ is using AI to transform how finance teams work and empower them to do more with less.

The Opportunity - Senior User Researcher | 12-Month Maternity Leave Coverage (Remote - CANADA)

We are looking for a Senior User Researcher to own research for a core product area at Wrapbook. This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who can turn broad, evolving questions into a clear learning strategy without waiting for a perfectly defined brief. You'll lead research from framing through synthesis and activation, helping teams understand our customers, identify the right problems, and make grounded product decisions before direction hardens.

You'll work across complex, connected workflows where user needs, business priorities, and industry requirements intersect. Your work will bring clarity to ambiguity, build a durable understanding of our customers, and influence the direction and quality of experiences across Wrapbook.

This is a temporary 12-month maternity leave converge role.

What you'll do:
  • Own the research strategy and roadmap for a core product area, identifying the highest-impact learning opportunities and aligning research priorities with customer needs, product direction, and business OKRs.

  • Frame ambiguous questions into focused research plans, selecting the right qualitative, quantitative, generative, or evaluative methods based on the decision, timeline, risk, and available evidence.

  • Lead mixed-method research across the product lifecycle, including discovery, concept testing, usability testing, field research, surveys, benchmarking, and post-launch evaluation.

  • Turn complex findings into clear, defensible recommendations that help Product, Design, Engineering, Data, and business partners make decisions and take action.

  • Build a connected, evidence-based understanding of our customers by synthesizing research with signals from Pendo, product analytics, customer feedback, and existing knowledge in Dovetail.

  • Define success upfront and partner with cross-functional teams to evaluate outcomes through signals such as speed, efficiency, comprehension, confidence, error reduction, and customer satisfaction.

  • Shape direction early by surfacing unmet needs, challenging assumptions, and bringing the customer perspective into planning and prioritization before solutions are defined.

  • Operate at a high AI bar, using AI to accelerate research planning, analysis, synthesis, and knowledge sharing while protecting participant privacy and maintaining research rigor. Create reusable workflows and practices that improve how the broader team learns from customers.

  • Scale the impact of research by making insights accessible, maintaining a durable research repository, and coaching partners and designers on appropriate research practices.

  • Communicate research status, decisions, risks, and open questions clearly so partners and leadership have an accurate picture of what we know, what we do not know, and what should happen next.

What you'll have:
  • 6+ years of experience conducting user or product research, with a track record of leading mixed-method studies that influenced product direction and delivered customer and business value.

  • Strong command of qualitative and quantitative research methods, with the judgment to choose an approach based on the decision at hand rather than defaulting to a familiar method.

  • Experience owning research from problem framing through activation, including study design, participant engagement, facilitation, analysis, synthesis, storytelling, and follow-through.

  • The ability to navigate ambiguity, work autonomously, and prioritize competing research needs in a fast-moving environment.

  • Strong analytical and synthesis skills, with the ability to connect multiple evidence sources, identify meaningful patterns, and distinguish durable insights from isolated feedback.

  • Exceptional collaboration, influence, and communication skills, with a proven ability to align Product, Design, Engineering, Data, and business partners around evidence-based decisions.

  • A pragmatic approach to research that balances rigor, speed, risk, and the needs of the team without compromising the integrity of the work.

  • AI fluency and a growth mindset toward reusable, AI-supported research workflows, paired with sound judgment around participant privacy, data handling, and the limitations of AI-generated analysis.

  • Customer obsession, intellectual curiosity, and the confidence to challenge assumptions when the evidence points in a different direction.

  • Experience in entertainment, payroll, fintech, accounting, or another complex operational domain is a plus.
