Job summary

Rogers in Calgary, AB is seeking a UNIX Systems Administrator to build, maintain, and secure our enterprise UNIX platforms, enabling critical business services. You will work with internal customers, vendors, and technical teams to keep environments stable and available.

This role includes Tier 3 escalation, on‑call rotation, automation development with AWX and Ansible, and collaboration across virtualization, container, and cloud‑native tech to modernize our infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise UNIX/Linux environments.
• Experience working in ITIL/ITSM‑based operational environment.
• Ability to participate in a scheduled on‑call rotation and respond outside regular hours.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with a customer service mindset.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Build, configure, and support enterprise UNIX infrastructure that hosts critical business applications and services.
• Provide Tier 3 support and escalation assistance for complex OS and infrastructure issues.
• Participate in a scheduled on‑call rotation for after‑hours support and incident response.
• Perform server lifecycle management: provisioning, patching, upgrades, and configuration changes.
• Troubleshoot OS, infrastructure, and application‑related issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with application teams, internal customers, vendors, and technical teams to deliver reliable services.
• Participate in projects requiring UNIX infrastructure expertise and provide guidance for successful delivery.
• Develop and maintain automation using AWX and Ansible.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, standardization, and service quality through automation and process improvements.
• Follow ITSM processes and procedures and support evolving UNIX services.
