Job summary

ivari is seeking a Senior Consultant, Underwriting, Claims & Risk Management in Toronto to ensure fair, timely, and compliant underwriting of complex life, disability and critical illness applications and claims. You will guide advisors, MGAs and partners with expert decisions and governance oversight.

The role demands deep technical expertise, senior-level leadership, and collaboration across internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience underwriting life insurance policies at a senior level.
• 3–5 years experience adjudicating life insurance claims.
• Strong understanding of life insurance, underwriting practices, claims adjudication, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assess complex and escalated life, disability and critical illness applications and claims.
• Provide technical guidance on underwriting decisions and claims investigations.
• Review contestable and complex claims and identify potentially fraudulent activity.
• Conduct underwriting reviews of claim investigations and provide expert technical opinions.
• Support audit, compliance and regulatory reviews while strengthening governance.
