Senior Underwriter or Intermediate Underwriter, Personal Lines

About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Underwriter or an Intermediate Underwriter to join our Personal Lines team in the Calgary or Edmonton office. This is a permanent full-time hybrid position requiring a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.

What You'll Do Here

• Assess and evaluate moderate to complex risks.
• Process, underwrite, and authorize the acceptance of new business, renewals, cancellations, and endorsements to develop and retain profitable business.
• Ensure limits are in accordance with company guidelines, laws, and regulations, and apply standard rates and premiums.
• Review claims reports and driver abstracts.
• Provide technical advice, mentoring, and coaching to team members and new hires.
• Participate in technical training delivery for staff and partners.
• Develop relationships with internal/external partners, promote products, solicit new business, and identify growth opportunities.
• Prepare summaries of overall results.

What You Bring To The Table

• 5-7 years of Property and Casualty insurance experience in Alberta.
• Completion or progress towards CIP designation.
• Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of the Intact software is an asset.
• Strong knowledge of personal lines insurance, policy wording, and legal documents.
• Effective time management and communication skills.
• Ability to build productive relationships and lead teams.
• Willingness to visit brokers' offices.
• No Canadian work experience required, but must be eligible to work in Canada.
