Job summary

HUB International is seeking an Executive Underwriter to analyze acceptability of opportunities under company guidelines, pricing new and renewal submissions, and build broker relationships to grow a profitable book. You will be supported by leaders and executives to deliver value-added underwriting solutions.

This role emphasizes strategic thinking, governance, and mentorship of junior underwriters, with occasional travel to broker meetings and industry events.

Qualifications

• 5+ years underwriting experience, including mid-level to complex risks.
• Hold CIP/CRM/CAIB or actively pursuing.
• Hold Level 2 Insurance Agent License or eligible within 90 days.
• Familiar with regulatory/compliance frameworks in insurance.
• Advanced knowledge of P&C risks.
• Existing industry relationships to attract business.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills with sound judgment.
• Clear, effective communication and negotiation skills.
• Supervisory leadership qualities and team development.

Responsibilities

• Perform risk analysis for quoting, negotiating, and renewing new and existing business.
• Develop broker partnerships by providing prompt service and quotations.
• Manage and grow a book of profitable business to meet production targets.
• Ensure compliance with guidelines and delegated authority.
• Prepare referral documentation to carriers including Lloyd's markets.
• Build relationships via broker visits, events, and networking.
• Contribute to product knowledge and development with management.
• Lead underwriters, mentor juniors, and handle escalations.
• Think strategically and set objectives aligned with profitability.
• Document files to ensure clarity and paperless processing.
• Attend broker conventions and industry events; travel up to 25%.
• Lead business development meetings with brokers.
