Description

HITACHI RAIL is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Sr. Telecom Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The position is based in downtown Toronto, ON.

Accountabilities

  1. Manage telecom work packages with oversight throughout execution, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, and timeline.
  2. Develop comprehensive project plans aligning customer requirements with company goals from initiation to implementation.
  3. Monitor project progress and prepare detailed reports on milestones and deliverables for senior management.
  4. Assign and supervise daily tasks of technical personnel, ensuring progress towards milestones.
  5. Conduct regular team meetings to assess progress and resolve project issues.
  6. Define clear deliverables, roles, and responsibilities for team members involved in projects.
  7. Research and evaluate hardware and software options, conducting cost/benefit analyses.
  8. Oversee installation, update, and maintenance of production technologies, ensuring proper functioning.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proficiency in PENG and BIM.
  • Professional Project Management Certification from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Understanding of project management processes, strategies, and methods.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with experience guiding others.
  • Strong personal accountability and leadership in decision-making and team supervision.
  • Experience in collaborative environments, promoting teamwork.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with managerial experience.
  • Ability to anticipate challenges and proactively address obstacles.
  • Knowledge of communication engineering principles, including RF allocations, wave propagation, and RF measurements.
  • Familiarity with fiber optics, digital communications, hardware, and software related to radio communications.
  • Knowledge of wired and wireless complex network design.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Experience with telecom systems in the railway industry.
  • Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering or IT degree.
  • Minimum 2 years of railway system engineering experience.
