Job summary

Amaris Consulting in Mississauga is seeking a Senior Telecom Commissioning Engineer to lead the commissioning and start-up of railway telecommunications systems. The role owns the process end-to-end—from planning through testing to client handover—working with third parties, regulatory bodies, and internal teams, while mentoring less experienced engineers along the way.

You will mentor junior engineers, manage projects with limited supervision, and ensure QES commissioning plans.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of experience in telecom engineering.
• 1–2 years of experience in Railway System Engineering.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology.
• Ability to pass a clear background check.

Responsibilities

• Develop and ensure a detailed commissioning schedule and plan through pre-commissioning, start-up and handover.
• Prepare and/or update a comprehensive commissioning manual.
• Establish a reporting structure and define accountabilities for the commissioning team.
• Plan and coordinate the commissioning/start-up schedule with third-party providers.
• Develop pre-commissioning test procedures and documentation, correcting any deficiencies.
• Produce compliance and progress reports per legislative and regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with government agencies to secure necessary approvals prior to start-up.
• Prepare client acceptance forms and ensure sign-off is obtained.
• Develop comprehensive quality, environment, and safety commissioning plans.
• Manage assigned projects and processes independently with limited supervision.
• Coach and review junior team members’ work.
