Job Overview

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic, and results-driven professional for the role of Senior Technical Engineer/Officer (Code Compliance). Reporting to the Manager, Fire Protection Support, this role involves conducting fire protection impact evaluations and gap analyses for plant modifications, ensuring compliance with codes such as the National Fire Code, NFPA standards, CSA 293/393, and internal licensing requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Perform fire protection impact evaluations for new design modifications to ensure regulatory and safety compliance.
2. Manage regulatory fire protection projects, including inspections, testing, and maintenance in accordance with CSA 293/393 and other codes.
3. Conduct fire protection gap analyses to identify compliance issues and improvement areas.
4. Support license renewal activities with expertise on fire protection systems and documentation.
5. Review and update fire protection procedures to align with current regulations.
6. Interpret and apply fire-related standards to operational and engineering challenges.
7. Collaborate with teams to integrate fire safety into plant modifications and operations.
8. Provide technical guidance on fire-related compliance issues.

Qualifications

• 4-year university degree in engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 4 years experience in fire protection or code compliance
• Strong knowledge of fire protection standards and codes
• Experience with impact evaluations and gap analyses
• Familiarity with regulatory inspection, testing, maintenance, and licensing
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to interpret building and fire codes
• Experience supporting license renewals and updating procedures
