Shift(s): Days

Travel: 10%

Join Ontario Power Generation (OPG), a leading power producer in Ontario, committed to sustainability and innovation. We are seeking a Senior Technical Engineer/Officer (Code Compliance) to join our team.

Job Overview:

Reporting to the Manager, Fire Protection Support, you will conduct fire protection impact evaluations and gap analyses for plant modifications, ensuring compliance with standards like the National Fire Code, NFPA, CSA 293/393, and internal licensing requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform fire protection impact evaluations for new design modifications.
  • Manage regulatory fire protection projects, including inspections, testing, and maintenance.
  • Conduct fire protection gap analyses to identify compliance issues.
  • Support license renewal activities with expertise on fire protection systems.
  • Update fire protection procedures and handbooks.
  • Interpret and apply fire safety standards to operational challenges.
  • Collaborate with teams to integrate fire safety into plant activities.
  • Provide technical guidance on fire-related compliance issues.

Qualifications:

  • 4-year university degree in engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in fire protection or code compliance.
  • Knowledge of fire protection standards, including NFPA and CSA standards.
  • Experience in impact evaluations and gap analyses related to facility modifications.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements in highly regulated environments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply building and fire codes.
  • Experience supporting license renewals and updating technical procedures.
