Job summary

PMD is a luxury residential interior design studio based in Toronto. We are seeking a Senior Technical Designer to lead the technical execution of projects from concept through construction completion.

You will transform design concepts into comprehensive drawing packages in Revit and AutoCAD, coordinate consultants and trades, conduct site reviews, and mentor junior designers to uphold PMD standards and timelines.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience at a high-end residential design/architecture firm.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit (required).
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Experience producing construction documentation.
  • Knowledge of residential construction methods & detailing.
  • Ability to lead multiple projects independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's licence to attend project sites.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical development of luxury residential projects from concept through construction.
  • Produce construction drawing packages in Revit.
  • Develop detailed architectural, millwork, cabinetry drawings.
  • Coordinate consultant documentation from various trades.
  • Conduct site measurements and reviews through all phases.
  • Review shop drawings and fabrication drawings.
  • Coordinate with contractors, fabricators, consultants, and trades.
  • Resolve technical challenges before impacting construction.
  • Manage drawing revisions and maintain accuracy.

  • Collaborate with Senior Creative Designer to preserve design intent.

Senior Technical Designer

We create timeless homes that blend architectural integrity, exceptional craftsmanship, and highly personalized interiors. Our team manages every stage of the design process -from initial concept through procurement, construction, and final installation - to deliver a seamless client experience and beautifully executed homes.

The Role

As a Senior Technical Designer, you'll lead the technical execution of luxury residential projects from concept through construction completion. Working closely alongside the Senior Creative Designer, you'll transform design concepts into comprehensive drawing packages while coordinating consultants, contractors, and trades to ensure every detail is executed to the highest standard.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about residential construction, loves technical problem-solving, and takes pride in producing meticulous documentation that allows projects to be built with confidence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the technical development of luxury residential projects from concept through construction completion.
  • Produce comprehensive construction drawing packages in Revit.
  • Develop detailed architectural, millwork, cabinetry, joinery, and custom furniture drawings.
  • Coordinate architectural, structural, mechanical, and other consultant documentation.
  • Conduct site measurements and site reviews throughout all phases of construction.
  • Review shop drawings, submittals, and fabrication drawings.
  • Coordinate directly with contractors, fabricators, consultants, and trades.
  • Resolve technical challenges proactively before they impact construction.
  • Manage drawing revisions and maintain drawing accuracy throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure documentation aligns with PMD standards and project timelines.
  • Collaborate closely with the Senior Creative Designer to preserve design intent while developing practical construction solutions.
  • Mentor junior and intermediate designers while supporting the continued growth of the technical team.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience at a high-end residential interior design or architecture firm.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit (required).
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Extensive experience producing construction documentation and permit drawing packages.
  • Thorough understanding of residential construction methods and detailing.
  • Strong knowledge of millwork fabrication, cabinetry, and custom detailing.
  • Excellent understanding of consultant coordination.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to independently lead multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's licence with the ability to attend project sites throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
