About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Architect to support the planning, documentation, and architectural oversight of complex IM / IT projects across their full lifecycle. The role will focus on contributing to key decision-making documents and technical artifacts required under the Project Approval Directive during both the Definition and Implementation Phases of project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Definition Phase :

• Provide technical architectural guidance and input into the project approval documentation required by the Project Approval Directive.
• Lead the development of comprehensive Architecture and Design documentation, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and business objectives.
• Lead capability analysis activities to identify gaps between current and desired technology capabilities.
• Collaborate with stakeholders in the development of project security documentation, including :
• Security Classification Guide (SCG)
• Security Categorization and Assessment Report (SCAR)
• Statement of Sensitivity (SoS)
• Contribute to and update the Requirements Matrix with a focus on technical requirements and dependencies.
• Provide architectural input into the development and finalization of :
• Risk and Complexity Assessments
• Project Implementation Options
• Statement of Operational Requirements (SOR)
• Business Transformation Plans
• Cost Validation Documentation

Implementation Phase

• Contribute to technical architecture components of project approval documentation required for the Implementation Phase.
• Develop or support the Implementation Phase Study, including deployment planning, integration guidance, and architectural assurance.
• Provide accurate and timely technical input to the Project Brief, ensuring clarity in architectural scope and delivery strategy.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience in technical or enterprise architecture roles within large-scale IT or government programs.
• Proven expertise in developing technical documentation and capability assessments in line with structured project governance frameworks.
• Strong understanding of Government of Canada project governance, especially the Project Approval Directive and related security classification requirements.
• Experience contributing to security documentation and risk assessments in high-compliance environments.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with stakeholders, analysts, and project managers.
