We’re seeking entrepreneurial problem-solvers eager to streamline processes and deliver value across a diverse, multinational portfolio.
As a key player on the Operational Controllership, Statutory, and Tax Center of Excellence (COE) team, you will:
- Prepare and review complex financial statements for multiple business units, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Canadian GAAP disclosure requirements.
- Coordinate and oversee accounting for specialized transactions.
- Offer expert consultation on accounting matters to various business units, primarily under ASPE (Canadian GAAP).
- Lead or contribute to advisory projects for Canadian operations, tackling complex transactions like mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, or restructurings.
- Evaluate financial processes across business units, identifying improvement opportunities and sharing best practices from within the organization or the broader industry.
- Engage in team initiatives to enhance the quality of professional services provided.
- Take on additional Financial Analyst duties, adding value by boosting business practices and profitability for stakeholders.
- Drive transformation and operational tasks related to controllership, statutory accounting, reporting, and tax preparation/filing for your assigned region, ensuring timely completion of statutory accounts, stat-to-GAAP adjustments, and tax calculations.
- Ensure all local statutory obligations are met.
- Assist the tax team with corporate income tax (CIT) and other tax-related needs, providing clear, timely information and necessary documentation.
- Handle e-compliance tasks with precision and accuracy.
### Role Summary/Purpose:
The Statutory (STAT) team delivers expert professional services to a range of business and corporate entities within this multinational organization. This includes preparing and reviewing financial statements under Canadian GAAP, providing technical accounting advice, and supporting transaction advisory needs. The role bolsters operational controllership, statutory reporting, and tax compliance across shared services, corporate functions, and legal entities in the country
### Qualifications/Requirements:
- An accounting or finance designation—CPA strongly preferred, or actively in pursuit.
- Sharp problem-solving and analytical skills, with a knack for spotting issues, assessing impacts, and resolving them with a strong controllership mindset.
- Keen attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
- Special consideration for candidates with:
- Technical expertise in US GAAP and ASPE.
### Desired Characteristics:
- Experience crafting financial statements, ideally from a Big 4 firm or a fast-paced business setting.
- Solid grasp of financial systems and proven project management skills.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
