KCB is a multidisciplinary engineering, geoscience, and environmental consulting firm with a global footprint. We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Tax Analyst to join our Corporate Finance team in Vancouver, focusing on Canadian corporate tax and expanding into international matters.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • CPA designation required.
  • CPA Canada’s In-Depth Tax Program: completion or in progress is an asset.
  • 5+ years of tax experience, ideally in industry with Canadian‑controlled private companies; public practice experience is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian corporate tax, with international or cross-border tax experience preferred.
  • Experience with ASPE and tax accounting/financial reporting.
  • Experience with multiple entities across global jurisdictions and currencies.
  • Advanced Excel; BST 11 and TaxPrep are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare quarterly and annual income tax provisions and related notes.
  • Own tax accruals, reconciliations, and journal entries; develop global cash tax forecasts.
  • Assist with Canadian, US, and foreign annual tax filings.
  • Lead VAT, GST/HST, PST, and US sales tax returns and co‑reconciliations.
  • Analyze international cross-border tax matters and treaty relief.
  • Maintain global tax compliance calendar and monitor deadlines.
  • Contribute to tax planning and process improvements using automation.
  • Provide ad hoc tax analysis and support on special projects.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and experienced Senior Tax Analyst to join our Corporate Finance team in Vancouver as we continue to expand our global footprint. You have a solid foundation in Canadian corporate tax, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a keen interest in expanding your experience in international and cross-border tax matters.

Reporting to the Corporate Tax Manager, you will work closely with other members of the

Corporate Finance team and collaborate with internal Finance teams and external advisors across multiple tax jurisdictions worldwide.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Prepare quarterly and annual income tax provisions, including current and deferred tax calculations, effective tax rate reconciliations, and supporting working papers; assist with the preparation of the income tax note for the audited financial statements
  • Take ownership of tax accruals, tax account reconciliations, and related journal entries; perform book-to-tax reconciliations for domestic and foreign entities; and develop and maintain global cash tax forecasts, including analysis of actual-to-forecast variances
  • Contribute to the completion of the annual Canadian corporate tax returns and other Canadian, US, and foreign annual tax filings and forms, as required
  • Lead the monthly and quarterly excise, commodity and indirect tax compliance process, including VAT, GST/HST, PST and US sales and use tax returns, together with applicable reconciliations and self‑assessment calculations
  • Assist with the analysis of international cross‑border tax matters, including permanent establishment exposure, withholding taxes, intercompany transactions, and treaty relief
  • Undertake tax calculations and analyses, including safe income, foreign tax credits and other tax attributes, as applicable
  • Compile related party transaction tax reporting information, including assistance with transfer pricing documentation
  • Maintain the global tax compliance calendar, monitor filing and payment deadlines, and identify changes in Canadian and international tax requirements that may affect KCB’s operations
  • Contribute to tax planning initiatives and identify and implement improvements to tax processes, working papers and controls, including the use of emerging technology and automation tools to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Provide ad hoc tax analysis and research and support on special projects as required
What we require:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
  • Completion of CPA Canada’s In-Depth Tax Program, or progress toward completion, is an asset.
  • 5+ years of related tax experience, ideally gained primarily in industry, preferably working with Canadian‑controlled private companies; public practice experience considered an asset
  • Strong technical knowledge of Canadian corporate tax principles, with international or cross‑border tax experience preferred
  • Good working knowledge of ASPE and tax accounting and financial reporting
  • Experience working with multiple legal entities across global jurisdictions and multiple currencies
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with BST 11 and TaxPrep is an asset
  • Ability to consistently apply established procedures and processes with discipline and accuracy, demonstrate strong ownership of assigned responsibilities, and identify practical opportunities to improve efficiency where appropriate.
  • Exceptional organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities during critical reporting and tax compliance periods
  • Proactive, solutions‑oriented approach to problem‑solving, with the ability to identify issues, investigate discrepancies and recommend appropriate action
  • Highly detail‑oriented with a commitment to producing high‑quality deliverables supported by accurate documentation
  • Proven ability to work independently, take accountability for deliverables and elevate issues appropriately and collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with, or an interest in, using generative AI and automation technologies to enhance tax research and streamline tax processes
What we offer:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $90,000 to $120,000 per year. Salary is based on applicable experience, education, and skill level. Along with continued career development, KCB offers:
