Brief Description

Working with the Principal, the Senior Tax Analyst will utilize their tax knowledge and analytical skills to ensure the timely and accurate filing of US and International tax returns, support quarterly tax provisions, coordinate US tax audits, and support US and domestic growth initiatives. They will also provide tax assistance to other business functions and assist with international tax planning and research.

The Opportunity

In collaboration with the Principal, the Senior Tax Analyst will leverage their expertise to manage US and international tax filings, audits, and planning, while supporting growth initiatives and compliance efforts.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with domestic and international planning and growth initiatives, mainly US-focused
  • Coordinate US income tax return filings and maintain compliance tracking
  • Prepare Global Minimum Tax calculations and related returns
  • Handle assigned tax returns and foreign reporting forms
  • Manage tax audits and respond to international auditor requests
  • Oversee international financing structures
  • Support international tax planning, transfer pricing, and tax research
  • Assist with quarterly tax provisions
  • Understand company tax accounting processes
  • Analyze and reconcile tax returns with the general ledger, identify risks, and resolve discrepancies
  • Prepare journal entries and manage foreign affiliate surplus computations
  • Respond to internal team requests and handle special projects
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business with a focus on Accounting/Finance
  • CPA, CGA, CMA, or CA designation
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience, preferably in oil and gas
  • Knowledge of US tax, Canadian foreign affiliate tax rules, and Global Minimum Tax
  • Completed relevant tax courses (e.g., CICA in-depth, US Master of Taxation)
  • Strong understanding of tax reporting and accounting principles
  • Experience with JDE or similar systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in international teams
  • Enthusiastic learner and process-oriented thinker
