Cytiva in Burnaby, BC, is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for Gloveless Aseptic Filling Systems. You will lead system architecture from concept through verification and validation, coordinating with multiple functions to ensure performance and product quality.

The role requires a bachelor’s in engineering, hands-on design experience on automated life sciences equipment, and proven ability to translate stakeholder needs into detailed requirements and risk-driven verification strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Mechatronics, Electrical, Controls, or Mechanical Engineering – or equivalent.
• Experience developing complex automated or life sciences equipment with hands-on design as a lead on cross-functional engineering efforts.
• Experience translating needs into requirements, with traceability through V&V.
• Experience applying risk analysis methods such as FMEA to guide design decisions and verification strategy.
• Experience across the engineering lifecycle from concept to V&V in fast-paced environments.

Senior Systems Engineer – Gloveless Aseptic Filling Systems

Located in Burnaby, BC, this on‑site role reports to the Engineering Manager, Aseptic Filling.

What You Will Do

• Lead system architecture and technical design for new aseptic filling technologies from concept through integration, verification & validation, and commercialization.
• Collaborate across the organization to translate stakeholder needs into system requirements, design inputs, and verification strategies supporting performance and product quality.
• Drive risk analysis, design reviews, testing, and root‑cause analysis to identify issues early, resolve technical challenges, and guide sound design decisions.
• Provide systems engineering leadership across cross‑functional teams, aligning technical decisions, coordinating activities, and driving execution for complex automation projects.

Who You Are

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Mechatronics, Electrical, Controls, or Mechanical Engineering – or equivalent.
• Experience developing complex automated or life sciences equipment, with hands‑on design experience as a technical or project lead on cross‑functional engineering efforts.
• Experience translating user and stakeholder needs into requirements, design inputs, system architecture, and subsystem interfaces, with clear traceability through V&V.
• Experience applying risk analysis methods such as FMEA to guide design decisions and verification strategy for automated equipment.
• Experience leading or contributing across the engineering lifecycle – from concept generation and evaluation through design, build, integration, test, and V&V – using lightweight, practical frameworks in a fast‑paced environment.

Preferred Experience

• Designing aseptic filling equipment, robotics systems, or machine vision systems.

Compensation

Salary range: $90,000 – $125,000, based on experience. Bonus or incentive pay may be available.
