Job summary

Acara Solutions is seeking a Systems Design Engineer for a full-time opportunity with our client in Abbotsford, BC. This role focuses on designing and integrating complex systems spanning mechanical, electronic, firmware, and software components.

The successful candidate has 10+ years in product design or development, a system-level approach, and experience with multidisciplinary teams. P.Eng is preferred or eligible to obtain registration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of product design or development experience.
  • Experience with multidisciplinary systems including mechanical, electronic, firmware, and/or software.
  • System-level design approach and traceability.
  • Experience with system integration, verification, validation, and technical documentation.
  • P.Eng certification preferred or eligible to obtain registration.
  • Firmware development experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, review, and analyze system requirements from stakeholders and customers.
  • Translate requirements into technical specifications, system designs, and subsystem solutions.
  • Assess components for feasibility, performance, reliability, scalability, and readiness.
  • Create and maintain system specifications, interface documentation, and design documents.
  • Support implementation, integration, troubleshooting, and verification of systems and subsystems.
  • Design and execute tests to verify and validate system functionality.
  • Ensure traceability of requirements, design, testing, and validation activities.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electronics, firmware, software, V&V, and project management teams.
  • Identify technical risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare technical documentation including requirements, design analyses, FMEAs, and reports.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
