Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer for our Toronto West office. You will lead structural design and construction support for diverse projects, coordinate with BIM and other disciplines, and perform site reviews to ensure code compliance.

You will collaborate with global Arcadis teams to drive high-impact projects. The role requires a minimum of 5 years in structural engineering, a P.Eng in Ontario, and proficiency with ETABS, SAFE, Robot, and REVIT/Navisworks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; Master's in Structural Engineering is an asset.
• Minimum 5 years relevant experience in structural design and construction support.
• Registered P.Eng in Ontario; registration in other provinces is an asset.
• Knowledge of Canadian design standards and codes; US codes are an asset.
• Proficiency with ETABS, SAFE, Robot, SAP2000; Office and Bluebeam experience.
• 3D BIM knowledge such as REVIT/Navisworks is an asset.
• Ability to collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams and communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Conduct the structural analysis and design of structures; prepare drawings and specifications.
• Carry out seismic analysis, design, and seismic performance assessment.
• Coordinate with Architecture, Electrical, Mechanical, and other disciplines.
• Attend meetings and prepare presentations as required.
• Prepare bid documentation for project pursuits.
• Conduct periodic site reviews to ensure construction complies with design and codes.
• Review submittals (RFIs, Shop Drawings) during CA phase.
• Provide direction to CAD staff and perform peer reviews of others' work.
• Perform QA/QC activities.

Role description:

Our Structural Team is seeking an Senior Structural Engineer to join the growing team in Toronto West office. The successful individual will develop and manage projects including structural design and construction support for the construction of new or modification to existing transportation, data center, water & wastewater, commercial, industrial, power, and institutional buildings & structures, ensuring conformance with building codes and project requirements. The scope of projects managed by our department ranges from minor renovations to major projects. The Structural Engineer will be collaborating with peer engineers and BIM modelers in other Arcadis’s offices around the globe. This job will involve coordination with other disciplines in house and offices around the world.

Role accountabilities:

Most of the Things You'll Work on:

• Conduct the structural analysis & design of structures and prepare drawings and specifications
• Carry out seismic analysis, seismic design, and seismic performance assessment
• Coordination with other design disciplines (Architecture, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.)
• Attend meetings and prepare presentations when required
• Prepare bid documentation for project pursuits
• Conduct periodic site reviews to ensure construction complies with design intent and codes
• Reviewing & responding to submittals (RFIs, Shop Drawings, etc.) during CA phase of projects
• Provide direction to, and work with, Engineering & CAD staff
• Provide peer reviews of other engineer’s work
• Perform QA/QC activities

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is an asset
• Minimum 5 years relevant experience in structural design and construction support
• Registered P. Eng in Ontario
• Registration in other provinces is an asset
• Knowledge and understanding of Canadian design standards and codes
• Knowledge of US codes and standards is an asset
• Proficiency and understanding of structural design software such as ETABS, SAFE, Robot, SAP2000 is expected
• Experience with Microsoft Office and software such as Bluebeam is expected
• Knowledge of 3D BIM is an asset such as REVIT & Navisworks
• You will work in a multi-disciplined team environment and will be expected to demonstrate a collaborative attitude in working with members of the team
• Ability to confidently relate with all levels of staff and clientele - Internal and External
• Excellent work ethic and desire to succeed
• Effective communication in the English language (verbal and written)
• Driver’s License

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $125,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
